The Primary Objectives of Assert National are:

1. To promote professional development and education in the area of human sexuality.
2. To recognise and accredit professionals working, or otherwise contributing to the area of sexuality as ASSERT National members in one or more of the categories of therapist, educator and researcher.
3. The maintenance of professional standards and ethics.

The Secondary Objectives of Assert National are:

1. To advance the scientific study of all aspects of human sexuality.
2. To promote both nationally and internationally the exchange of ideas, information and resources about human sexuality.
3. To arrange, provide for or to participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, public meetings, professional meetings, lectures and classes on human sexuality.
4. To arrange, provide for, or to participate in providing for, scientific research in sexology.
5. To initiate and or support the publication of professional and educational material on human sexuality.
6. To promote community knowledge and acceptance of human sexual behaviour and attitudes.
